Heidi Diskin is a mental(brain) health advocate and educator in the United States and beyond. Her focus is all about reducing stigma surrounding mental illness and informing individuals on the realities of issues related to depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety. In college, 20 years ago, Heidi had her first major depressive episode. It caused her to isolate herself, withdraw from others and generated feelings of hopelessness. Although the difficulty with these illnesses is that they can disappear for some time, like it has gone into hibernation but still exists in your body. Heidi went through these years not knowing fully aware of her condition and once there was recognition the stigma of having mental a illness prevented her from getting treatment. This is what led Heidi's brain to be suicidal, the untreated bipolar disorder caused suicidal thoughts leading to an attempt. Something that should never have to happen to anyone. Being in the hospital finally gave Heidi a diagnosis on Bipolar Disorder and medications, which truly saved her life. Now years have passed since the attempt, Heidi has found purpose in her pain in using her story to help others recognize the signs and symptoms of brain illness. She is a certified SafeTalk trainer for suicide prevention. She is also trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid and an American Foundation of Suicide Prevention series speaker. Heidi is available for individual sessions to coach teens and adults with depression and suicidal thoughts or attempts. Heidi can be reached at 856-220-0896 to schedule an appointment.

Dr. Donna has had a private practice in East Norriton since 1989. Her specialty is Network Chiropractic, a gentle and specific technique which takes 20-30 minutes and is designed to help the body release and heal tension and trauma in the spinal (nervous) system. It is a technique which is not the traditional type of "cracking" adjustment. The stresses in our daily lives (physical, emotional, or chemical) are recorded and stored in the nervous system. When overload occurs, it can lead to blockages or misalignments in the spinal called Vertebral Subluxations. Left unaddressed, these blockages can lead to deterioration and breakdown of the body. Dr. Donna does not accept insurance, and offers an introductory initial treatment for $15. She has packages available at $40.00 per week for 4 weeks or $45 for the second and subsequent sessions. These fees is similar to the copay that many patients have with their insurance providers. Dr. Donna is available at the Empowering U Center on Wednesdays from 2-6pm or by appointment at her private office in East Norriton.Call Dr. Donna at 610-584-4066 orbook online here for the Trappe office.

Kristyn Hartman AS, LMT is a graduate of Cortiva, formerly known as Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy and has been practicing bodywork since 2003. Kristyn’s training consists of extensive John Barnes Myofascial Release classes, Medical Massage Cupping and Equine Myofascial Release. Kristyn specializes in chronic pain, women’s breast issues, and overall body wellness for all walks of life and all ages.
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.
Cranial Sacral therapy (also known as Craniosacral Therapy) is a gentle, noninvasive form of bodywork that addresses the bones of the head, spinal column and sacrum. The goal is to release compression in those areas which alleviates stress and pain. Cranial sacral therapy seeks to restore the natural position of the bones and can decrease stress from chronic injuries as well as provide relief from migraine headaches, neck and back pain, temporomandibular joint disorder (the inflammation of the joint that connects the lower jaw to the skull) and more.
